Sounds cool. Well done on saving it. It'd be nice to see some pics as you go along.

I know this one, a few years ago the lady owner contacted me asking whether I knew of an easy way to get matt black paint of the car. It turned out her 'mechanic' boyfriend painted it to impress her with the 'rat look' without asking her. She had bought the car in Pageant Blue because her deceased dad had had one the same colour.

I suggested a large bucket of elbow grease, which she thought was a real product and asked where she could get some.

I got the impression that the mechanic was on his way out after that.

I would try a pressure washer! Good for removing paint and looking at it it is not well stuck to the blue underneath.
Hopefully the blue should stay on :?

Although my dad many moons ago used an industrial pressure washer of some sort on a building site to clean the mud of his car and instead remove the paint back to bare metal

Good luck.
