Paint codes

Hello all.
I have been searching the forum for any reference to paint codes, and not finding any.
Can anyone tell me if the colour appeared on the car anywhere - on a paint label or similar.?
Does anyone know what colour red my estate is - as in what they called it.?
I have just had some panel work done on the rear wheel arches, and it is in primer.
I would like to get some paint to touch it up, but having a code or any other relevant info would make that a lot easier.
Thanks.

Hi Kilroy,
I would hazard a guess at Vermilion (BVLC 118)

Hi Kilroy, there are colour code strands on my workshop forum mate, but i think you will find that Sean is correct, that looks very much like Vermillion to me too

Thankyou chaps - always wondered what 'vermillion' was.
As it turns out, the people who mix up the paint have advised me to use a weathered version as a match anyway - otherwise I get one small piece of the car with 'as new' colour, versus 95% which has aged.
Makes sense too.
I fully intend to treat this car to a full respray at a later date, so its only a temporary measure.
Of course - I'm only temporary when you think about it...

Hi Kilroy
With photographs it is sometimes difficult to be sure about colours but it does look like vermilion.
My coupe is vermilion and has weathered very little over the years because it has mainly been garaged, take a look at my avatar and judge for yourself.

Did BL put the paint colour code on the ID plate. iirc the Aussie cars have the chassis number on a plate somewhere in the engine bay (either on the left mudguard or by the radiator). Did the Poms do the same?

I have an X kiwi HL Sedan and it has the paint name and code on a printed piece of paper stuck up high, inside the left rear wing towards the rear.
