Ital Carb Identification and help wanted South Notts

I am a DIY mechanic with 40 years of serious tinkering experience. I have been asked to look at a Village Cricket roller which has a Ital engine in it ( or at least that is what the club think it is). The trouble is that this engine runs at idle all the time when rolling the wicket and soots up and doesn't run very well at all. I have used a colour tune (see through spark plug) and it runs rich. There is a jet on the bottom right hand side of the carb but you can turn it in to the stop but it doesn't effect the running? Would appreciate some advice on whether I am turning right jet and if someone could identify engine type and carb so I can get a manual/parts list for the carb. Or if someone could give me a temp loan of another carb to confirm that existing carb is faulty that would be great. The roller is in the rural part of Rushcliffe (notts) I live in NW Leicestershire.

I have to say that this feals like a wind-up, but assuming it's not, can you post a picture of the engine, we may be able to identify it. Also on one corner of the carb there will be a small aluminium tag with a number something like FZX 1309, there are lots of different ones. If you can supply the number I can tell you what car the carb came from, then it may be possible for someone on here who can advise.

His name reminds me of an Indian comedy character that Greg Ritchie used to do here in Australia....Mahatma Coat

a roller with an ital lump...hmmm.....seems a bit weird to me....thought most grass squishers used small Lister engines or similar??
could be a reliant 750 robin engine??....they look superficially similar to an A-series but did get used in some non-car applications?
maybe Angus is jezza in disguise??

No I can assure you it is a genuine request for help. I couldn't see a tag on the carb just a number MCD 1 on the casting of the carb. I will try and get a photo to you but it may be next week before I visit the cricket club again. I am told the roller was once used by Leicestershire County Cricket club, I assume the original engine gave up and someone fitted something that was cheaply available, ignoring it's suitability! Thanks for your reply. Regards Angus
