Fast Marina Magazine

Pretty wet both sides - I think it could be coming in from the corners of the windscreen - Is this common? What would be the best thing I could use to deal with this? Also,are their any other places that I need to look where water could be coming in?

If it ain't from the windscreen it might be from the air vent behind the bonnet (mine is).

If anyone knows how to sort a leak from there please let me know...

Why do you say its coming from the heater intake?

The heater is a self contained unit and any leaks from it are either the heating element leaking, or a crack in the top part letting rain water into the guts of it.

Other sources are around the wiper spindles, possibly the washerheads, the windscreen seal or the steel it sits on.

PS the heater is a complete B*st*rd to fit correctly and if not in the correct place then water can get in.

Theres a marine suppliers in Fleetwood called 'the yacht shop' sells it for £7.02, i'll have to go there methinks.

+++++ Anyone used LOCTITE SUPERFLEX BLACK SILICONE SEALANT to fill the cracks in the windscreen seal? Been given a free tube so will have a go using this before having to spend anything.

Hi Brian, Well I tried pouring water over the front of the car, none comes in through the windscreen, yet if it is poured down the air vent it soon comes into the car, when raining it used to drain inside but when a plastic cover is put over the air vent none comes in at all.

Sounds like the drains in the engine bay might be restricted in some way.
All manner of grunge falls down the vent and ends up blocking the drains.
On the firewall either side of the engine are two drains - early models had plastic pipes fitted to them - later ones just had rubber caps with folding flaps.
Either style can be removed and the drains cleaned out.
Simples.
