Oh God.......

I have been having some fun welding the lower edge of the Ital estates front chassis leg this week; it's now all solid metal and once I've painted it will be soused in something to kill/stop rust... anyway, that's not the "Oh God!" moment. That was brought to me by a very earnest young lady wearing a rosette and carrying a clipboard who was trying to drum up support so she could stand for erection.... sorry, election

I was accosted by said lady as I went to do some more work on the car and after asking if I'd pen my name to her application, I asked what her views were on recycling.... cue five minutes of zealous propaganda about the 'throw-away society' et al....
so I asked whether my recycling of an old car was 'environmentally sound'.......

I could have molested a kitten in front of her and had a less 'shocked' reaction.... No, No, No, my old car was a gas-guzzling relic that MUST be destroyed and replaced by a new 'green' car. I pointed out the carbon footprint of bringing a car into the world was greater than the Ital would ever produce but she was in cloud cuckoo land, whittering on about pollution, safety, think of the children, etc, etc, then had the gall to ask me to sign her application.......

Guess what my answer was.

Good man :D 8)
I think I scared off all those prats by throwing tools around the garage when they rang the door bell

Well, even though the garage door was up, the car was in the drive and my son making a noise I still could not be bothered to give them my time as I was to busy working out what parts fit where or digging up weeds in the garden

If I do talk to one then I will mention the classic car tax and a few others to see what they say! Plus ask them what expenses they have claimed but that will end up with them telling porkies!

In my experience, any politician will tell you what you want to hear and make promises, only to be completely forgotten about after the election. We only ever see our local MP in town when there is about to be an election! I told him this once. He didn't seem very happy about it! Told me I was cynical!!! WHO ME!......... Well, maybe a little

Dave B. (Mr. Cynical).

P.S. Good idea Paul, I'll try throwing tools at them next time one calls!
