Handbrake cable

Ive been informed that what i want for my Ford English axle is a Ital or late marina handbrake cable to replace the ford rod and cable.
- Drawn a blank and my local parts place, is there any milage in presuing this to larger parts chains or do i need a specialist supplier for it?

A good second hand would do, but for what it is, im more than happy to buy new as i have done for half the rest of the rear of the car. (Westfeild SE)

I have a second hand one that you can have for the price of postage. Taken off just because i've chnaged my axle.

PM me if you're interested.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but crashbangs problem is interesting.

Had you thought about leaving the existing handbrake system in place and adding a second lever actuating a small mastercylinder with a hand or foot lever, linked into the rear brake line. You have to think of a way of not applying the front brakes at the same time thogh - some kind of non-return valve system?

I am sure that the Escort boys already do something similar, but I think that they delete the cable, maybe copy their thinking?

Ahh ok, should have looked at ebay first really!

Whats the difference between the cable for 440 vans and the cable for 575 Van? (Seller owdkarbits following your link) is it the overall length or the fitting on the leaver or somthing?

The 440 vans are the same as the saloons, the 575s used a different axle and so the mechanism is a little different. Caterhams used the Ital saloon axle - so get a saloon or 440 cable.
