TC exhaust

Took the TC home today, it was by far the best 50 kms I've driven this year! :D :D :D I collected the TC from the lock-up because it needs a new exhaust. So I drove those 50 kms with an exhaust pipe that ended just in front of the back axle. It was noisy, but that noise was great!
The power and sheer grunt of this car also amazes me. Can't believe it's almost 40 years old!

Anyway, the exhaust that now has broken in the bend over the back axle has one silencer, behind the back axle. As I've undertood it, the TC should have only one silencer and it should be right at the back. However, on the NOS TC exhaust I found in Sweden, there's a silencer right in front of the back axle. Now, I guess if I fit BOTH silencers there will be no more nice noise. Could the new exhaust be from a later model?

I far as I know a TC should have an oval box in front of the back axle and a tube one behind the axle!
Mine still makes a nice sound :?

My former neighbour's twin-carb HL sounded exactly like an MGB. What mufflers did they have?

Think thats right, When replacing mine some years ago i used the downpipe from the old TC exhaust & welded it on a normally 1.8 system. IE i think the only difference between the TC and the rest is the double downpipe.

They should have two boxes ! TC's would sound a bit too noisy without them :D

Yeah, well, now it has two boxes and it sounds... lame. At least in comparison to how it sounded with no boxes!

I changed the centre box on my t.c to a strait though box instead of the off centerd piped box. The box i used was the same size but where the gases could travel quicker and easier it helped the the exhaust note and the performance. Hope this helps  I would try and get some pictures on here but my car has been tucked away in the back of a barn for 3 years :(
