Looks like a very straight car, a good base to work on.
Sounds like it's got a drinking problem though. Easily sorted though.

It is really nice. The guy said he put 15W40 in it and hasn't used it since. I hope that is the reason.

Hi Phillip,
Nice to see you are happy with your new purchase. At least you can say you have flushed all the rubbish out of the engine using a very thin oil! 15W/40 is a no go for these old A and B series. Get yourself some nice 20W/50 classic oil.
Best Regards,
Ben

Cheers mate. I am changing the oil tonight. Hopefully the 15w40 being in there is the problem. I can't imagine though even with 15w40 it would use a litre to 50 miles?!
It has a couple of scabs here and there and it needs a new carpet, but other than that it is good!

Phillip,
I wouldn't be surprised if it did but you could be right and have something else causing the problem. Best thing would be to check for any obvious leaks and maybe a compression test along with a sniff test?

Ben

Really nice. So that is what mine should have looked like before the previous owners played with the colour and interior.
I take it all the ash trays never line up on the mk1 marina dash??

Thanks guys, Snowy the ash tray on my other one lines up fine. This one was worse than that when I got it, the cage was badly bent. I have since straightened it. Are your seats yellow too?

My first Marina was harvest gold with a brown interior and black dash. They came with blue interiors too.
Always a mix mash of combinations from BL dealers.
Phillip if you wanted a good deal on oil head over to eurocarparts.com free delivery!

Cheers Ben. Was yellow seating not an option then?

Yellow was an option yes. I think more so on the early cars. What colour is your other mk1 trim?
When buyers went into the dealers they offered whatever they could to make a sale!

That is nice and clean! Good buy

If they are original carpets then you can reuse the sack backing and buy carpet to match.

Hi Ben, my other one is black dash, blue seats, blue carpets.
Cheers Paul it seems very clean to me! I don't know if the carpet is original, it isn't trimmed the same as my other marina's. It definately needs a new one though.
