Forgive me if i`m wrong here Paul, but were`nt the early `B` engines only three bearing cranks?, in which case i would think not so good as the later 5 bearing 18V engines as fitted to the Marina?, even so, as you say they would certainly do the job if you can`t get alater one

Could be a later 5 bearing B series with the shorter push rod set up and 'milk churn' tappets.
The cam should swap for a Marina item no probs, the crank is a different item on the MGB and would need swapping over if the original Marina box is to be used if I recall.
On the plus side it should have double valve springs and perhaps a big valve head.
Certain changes brought in for the Marina B series did cheapen the B somewhat, the revised tappets on the later engine were there becuase they were lighter than the earlier parts and cheaper to make to boot. Being an earlier engine it should have the better/stronger duplex timing chain, but it could have the inferior type of oil seal fitted which should be changed for a later item. The B can be identified by the distributor number, this changed over the years, I think the B series in the MGB used over thirty different types, while the engine code would remain the same!

I think you will find the camshaft in the MGB is exactly the same spec as the TC one in the Marina engine, and the fuel pump problem could be overcome by fitting an Electric one on the bulkhead, most of the later MGB`s had 18V engines fitted anyway, so they would swap over very easily

Yeah camshaft is the same but the spigot bush is different. I think Paul said he was using an auto box tho.

Fit an electric pump onto the rear heal board out of the way. Much more efficiant! Facet do a lovely one:

Are you running a regulator on that pump Ben?

Yeah it will be Jim. It came from a 74 car.

Check the engine number Jim, if it has 18V..... stamped on it, then it is the later type

Nope, it is self regulating. It's also rigged into an oil pressure cut off switch so in the event of stalling the pumps power is cut.

I'll check it later , wouldnt fancy taking another one out of an MGB , damn awkward cussing thing !! much more room in a marina !!

Ahhh, not thought of doing that...
Just make sure that the pressure does not drop whilst going round bends at 100mph! I had a Metro which would almost cut out when driving hard left around a roundabout for more than ten seconds. :D
I've thought about getting a regulator and filter in one for the TC, I might just make do with a filter mind as I've heard regulators don't give you much more power....

Never had that issue, the old B series does seem to pressure up well. If you were worried you could always fit baffles to the sump.

Second hand MGB one mate. Are you running single or twin carbs? You may get away with a Moggie one if it is single..

Something off a Land Rover then maybe? Series 1/2 have pullers. Pushers have a higher rate and need to be mounted in the boot. Try a Moggie as that is 8 gallons per hour. It may be working over time tho with twin carbs.
