With the S/T V8 they had to modify the front valance for the bottom pulley iirc. I would say your best bet is to lower it in and see if you can modify the existing V8 mounts to suit the Marina chassis. Once it is in the bay you will be able to see what it fouls on in relation to the steering rack and front cross member. I would get hold of an angle gauge to keep a check on the engine pivot in relation the the back axle and prop.
Post some pictures as you go mate!
Good luck!
Ben

or you could get your self an Australian Leyland Marina that was modified to take the 6cyl which has the rack moved upwards 30mm and the front valance modified for room to shift the radiator

Have you got any pics of the mods these cars had so they could be replicated of sorts?

Check out
http://ozmarina.com/. Plenty of pics. And a thread on fitting the slightly taller Leyland P76 4.4l version of the V8. 8)

Excellent site! I have joined :-)
Si, what gearbox and axle are you thinking of using?
Got any pictures of the work so far?

the V8 marina on ozmarina with the 4.6 is hooked up to a supra steel case gearbox and
AFAIR a ford 9inch
bearing in mind it started life as the Australian 6cyl version with a modified front valance

Hi Simon,
Still limping?
I've found a write up on PPC of fitting a rover V8 into an mgb, they say the standard box will not last long, options are LT77 used in SD1, R380 from a discovery (stronger) but a 'T5' ??? will take all the V8 can give. For the axle they seem to say the standard axle is fine but low geared for the power output (Beers MG can supply a bellhousing to suit).
The grey cells are not working so can't remember what the T5 came from, only that it is often offered as an option for Jaguar engines and other big lumps. Be careful as some boxes use 4th as 1:1 and 5th as overdrive, and others 5th is 1:1.
Shame you couldn't fit a Chevi LS1.
Best of luck - Brian

The T5 is a Borg warner box as fitted to TVR's, ford cosworths etc.. A very strong box and smaller than the LT77 so would ease into a small tunnel.
They hold high resale values so be warned if your thinking of finding one in a scrap yard.
