Just thought I would post this up as I saw this car today.
Jim (Tundra TC on the IOW) phoned me a while ago to say there was a M reg Citron colour coupe in a tarmac yard in Littlehampton, West Sussex.
Well this info had gone cold until my work mate phoned me today to say it was sitting on a low loader in the next street to where he lives.

So I had to go and look at it to see the state it was in and what its future is.

Well I am sorry to say it is going to be Banger Raced very soon and will be stripped. However it is in a very poor state body wise and would need a lot of restoration.
the guy who has it only needs the back axle and shell as he will fit a cross flow pinto engine and box and weld to the prop.
So it looks like he will get rid of the glass, engine, box and interior. Car has covered 63K miles and looks genuine but someone loved covering the filler with citron spray paint
The interior is in good condition and is Navy vinyl in 1800 MK1 super spec. Dash is Black.
I have had rescued the kick trims and a few other parts for my Jubilee, but I also have other parts which may suit others like stainless coupe gutter trim which I also removed as these are hard to get now.
I have a load of pictures below for you to see.

Parcel tray is in fairly good nick to

If you are interested in any parts can you PM me and I will pass the contact details on to you so you can talk to the guy holding the car.
It is a shame that it is going to die but at least he is open to pass on any spares he can to help.

No I think they just prayed it would go where they wanted it!
Also the wheel arch trims where held on with filler which I chipped out when I got home.

I also removed the emissions label as these are hard to get and this one is in very good nick and now clean ready to go on a car.
It is different to a TC but is for a 1973 1800cc car.

Well pleased with the kick trims as they are perfect and not marked or bent.

Paul,

I would be really interested in the whole interior, seats carpets, dash, headlining, parcel shelf, sun visors etc. Etc. If he's going to banger it then all this will go in the skip. Also the glass and seals, doorcards the lot. Can you PM his number please?

Chris

Hi I'd be interested in the dash bezel (rev counter, mine sometimes works sometimes doesn't) , indicator/light arms and surround, rear lights and grill, brake servo, oh and passenger seat if you dont need it Chris,as mine has a tear or two and would save me having it repaired..
cheers

Hi Paul if you are able to get it, I could do with the fabric mat that the drain outlets come out of! Only if you can? Cheers mate. ;)Image

Hi everyone, I will see what I can do but if you want loads then it is best to talk direct to the chap.
Please don't have a go at him for banger racing it as it is his car now and again he can do what ever he wants with it. It was luck I found it and any thing that can be used is a bonus.
Plus this car is 30 min drive from me so my costs go up if I start making trips to get parts.
Also I have to store parts which I have no space. So a few problems :?
Chris, as you want a lot of parts I have PM you with details.

I will have to call the chap as I think he is off at a meet tomorrow but may be able to go after work on Monday for a few more parts.
It was chance I got to see it today as I just turned up and they were there.
If my Jubilee was not home here I would have space to store parts but it now sits where all my junk used to be

Wonder what the rear screen seal is like Fruity? Might be worth checking out?
So does this mean we will be down to 561 examples, or was this not on the DVLA register?
Chris, could you let me know if you don't need the drivers side interior door handle/arm rest, cheers.

It was SORN'd up until the first of this month.

I found a website with lots of banger racing images and have found pictures of 16 Marinas having been raced in the last 3 years. Compared to the numbers of Jaguar MKXs and Austin 3 Litres being raced (which are of course far rarer than the Marina) then it isn't really much of a problem. Same for MK1 and MK2 Granadas, thousands are seemingly raced but there are never any on the roads?
Sadly I also found some more exotic cars had been raced:
P4 Cyclops, Alvis, Jaguar XK140, Triumph Stag, Volvo P1800, Borgward Isabella, '65 Mustang, Armstrong Siddeley

Here are the Marinas & Itals in case you're interested (hold back the tears  )

No worries Fruity, I will be popping back and so will see if I can get the mat for you and have a better look at screen rubbers etc.
I have had a few requests but it all depends on condition and how much he wants for some more bits as I have a limited budget and storage.
