Hi Adz,
Great pictures, I see Gary D's Mumford. not sure he liked those wheels but I think it looks much better now Eh! 8)
Also the RDG 119M Jubilee has just been sold on Ebay, and the other Jubilee I have a different picture that Frank sent me. This car has not been seen for a long time, but you never know may still be around.

The Purple TC coupe I think Matt has presently but the poor car is in a bad way :(

And talking of Rally cars, had a chat with a former owner of NBL786L today :) very interesting stories he had to tell me

No Budgie i love whitewalls too... but the narrower ones like i have on the Bentley 3/4". Paul gave me a set of white wall trims to put on the Black Tulip Coupe, which i must get fitted, as for the sunvisor not for me but it's what you like and want thats important, some folks don't like my slots and rear window louvre, but i think they are awesome lol..
looking forward to seeing your saloon soon, almost dropped by this afternoon but couldn't remember your address and had Mum with me..

I found this thread after deciding to google my old rally car ETX 2k , I owned and rallied it between 1985 and 1990. Sold it to Jeff williamson in 1990.

The pictures in the top of the thread I took when I sold it.

I don't think it has been reshelled (however by the time we had finished with it there was not much left of the original) as we replaced a rather large amount of panels after buying it as most panels were either paper thin, rotten, not straight at all etc. So wings, sills, rear arch lips, doors, bonnet, boot, front panel, front slam panel, headlamps backs, large amounts of floor etc where all replaced, and hence he may think it was reshelled??

It originally belonged to Denis Cardell and was built at Abingdon by ST and supported on RAC, welsh etc as a works car so he said.

when we had it is was a 1293 a series midget engine, and not its original 1800

If anyone wants to know more, just ask.

anyway here are some photos

when we first purchased it, first road rally

Then in process of being fixed

then finally fixed, white stripe had to go a regs said all one colour

and when it all started, in hands of Denis Cardell, as a 1800

Interesting information. I keep a database of all the early Marinas so it's great to see some photos of ETX in action!

Does anybody know if the car definitely still exists? And does anybody have the chassis number for it? :-D

Sorry all I know is that it existed as 2010 as i remember talking to someone at a rally, who said that jeff williamson still had it at the back of a garage, I don't know the chassis number. I have just found in the garage an original Special tuning midget and sprite 1275cc engine parts cat and special tuning data booklet and also a complete St marina special tuning manual, but its only a copy as the original went with the car.

The car basically had everything you could have. Full competition back axle, (J4 van! as those were the spare diffs we had), turreted, (standard mk2 escort rs2000 shocks fitted as they were the same size so they were spares) no spin diff in mag casing (unfortunately we broke the diff on the harlech hairpins) Turreted front with MGC torsion bars. (that what I think they were anyway) All the instrument panel was MGB with a centre panel with 3 gauges in it. The fuel tank was a capri item when we had it, with it in the boot. Battery in the boot all lines inside. Engine was 649 cam 1293cc midget special tuning engine with single 45 weber rather than su's as we could get more power out of it like that. Sprite / midget quick rack (massively heavy steering) mgb pcd hubs. Straight cut midget box. It was the noisiest competition car inside the car that i have ever owned! the box made a appalling racket.

Quite a few more picture if anyone would like me to scan them in?

one before we stuck the bumpers back on

The rally pictures are all road rallying, (night rallying) which was huge fun....if rather mad
