They did a day van without the elevating roof. Here is the advertising blurb.

In the days before the MPV had even been thought of, the Suncamper offered out-and-about families something more than a standard estate car. Introduced as a budget companion to the established Suntor, it did without the elevating roof. In place of the fitted cabinets, the Suncamper had just a removable cooker and sink unit, with a standard 2-gallon water carrier taking the place of the Suntor pump-fed underfloor tank. Open the under-sink cupboard, however, and you'd find a set of crockery and cutlery for four.

As with the Suntor, the front and rear seats could be converted into a double bed, albeit without the benefit of Dunlopillo cushioning, and the cabin was trimmed with fitted carpets and curtains. Customers could choose between the 1098cc 7cwt or 1275cc 10cwt "Marina" vans as the basis for the conversion.

Sadly my Mk 3 Pickup Douglas's original owner had taken the suntrekker body to the tip 2 weeks before I met him & bought the damn thing! . On the plus side however it did mean I had bought a pickup wich had never been used as a commercial & as a consequence the load bay was completely unscathed!. Oh to be able to turn back time eh?

Thats a shame Brian, I have never seen a Suntrekker. Is there any Trekkers left in the uk?

Hi Brian, did your pickup come with a tailgate?
My pickup also was supposedly fixed with a Suntrekker and had no tailgate when I got it,it could have been something in that as the threaded holes for mounting the tailgate stays into did not line up with the body panels, unless it has been damaged in the past but I found no evidence of it.
Also there is a tiny indentation in the centre of the cab.
Like yours virtually unscratched load area.

Hi Billy, yes it fid come with it's tailgate, which had been removed when he bought the lad new!!, hence the only damage to the tailgate was some supeficial scratching where it had been stood in his garage for 15 years !.
When i get my scanner running I'll email you some pics!
Cheers
Brian.
