Marina at MOTAT

Post by locost_bryan » Mon May 21, 2012 2:15 am

MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology), in Auckland, have added a 1978 Marina wagon to their collection. (Cheap phone camera, so not a great pic :( ). Couldn't get a decent pic of the info sign, but described it as an example of the British motor industry at it's low point - underdeveloped, poorly built, rust prone  . Not derogatory, but not flattering. :(

It seems such a shame, that this disgustingly filthy laggards vehicle, produced by mean spirited and thoroughly perverted individuals, hated by the masses, only sold a measly 1.5 million examples....

How many Lamborghini's you sold lately Luigi.?

Bl**din wa*kers.

They were underdeveloped, poorly built and rust prone though! Still are, in the case of mine

I'll have to go back and get a pic of the display card.

The blurb wasn't derogatory or snide like JC and the TG crowd, just matter-of-fact about it being a product of the time, symptomatic of the industrial malaise that blighted Britain, Australia and NZ in the '70s . Sadly, they were screwed together by Red Robbo's mates, rusted (like everything else at the time!), and were the victim of some suspect management decisions. :(

But at least they have character. :D
