I always thought a russett was a potato, unless there is something more glamorous and exciting out there which is also called a russett.

sorry to disappoint you chaps but russett is a type of apple!

, and yes they are a sort of reddish brown colour ...hence russett brown

 Thinking about it, there must have been someone keen on horticulture during the late 70`s at BL`s paint dept, think about it....Applejack, Russett, Snapdragon, Honeysuckle, Silver birch, Maple all Leyland colours, and there are probably more

, sad but true

Fraid so Crashbang, still yours could be anything really from that photo it is a job to tell, as a K reg she would have been something entirely different originally as Russett only came out about 1979, and your car should be about 1972

, so it may be anyones brown...even Mercedes or BMW 8)

Just did a bit of google-ing and it seems that a russet is also a potato also but now that Frank has thrown out the russet apple theorem it seems to make alot more sense to name a British Leyland car colour after an apple and not a potato. :?
I guess if BL started calling cars broccoli instead of limeflower and rhubarb instead of damask they would have folded years before.
Back to the topic at hand, I would like the "american beauty" Marina that is on ebay right now but will probably just get underpants again.
