Brake calliper reconditioning

Hi I've got sticky calliper pistons so is it best to get recon callipers or repair myself with a calliper repair kit
Also what price do you think would be ok for a calliper......seen 2on fleabay £110

Personally I would do them myself. Just buy a repair kit and if you think the pistons are pitted then buy a set of new pistons. :-)

I agree with Ben do them yourself, not that difficult and save yourself a shed load of money.

1. If you visit my www.marinacoupe.co.uk website you'll find an article I wrote on how I did it.

2. Ben has also published most of the complete BL workshop manual, so it's worth reading that has well.

3. Rimmer Brothers sell seal repair kits for £13 and pistons if you need them. They are listed for Dolomite but are the same as Marina/Ital.

Agree with the lads above. Reynards callipers were seized solid as he was laid up for over 3 years. I honed out the bores and bought a repair kit for about £13 and the grease for about £2 for the pistons on ebay.
