Bleed nipple thread size

Does anyone know the thread size for disc caliper bleed nipples? 3/8 UNF has been suggested or are they likely to be metric? I had the usual problem of rusted in, got them out ok but totalled them doing it.
I was thinking of getting some of the ones with the one-way valves in the top. Does anyone have experience of these, good or bad?
