Original colour

Hi, Need some help, me and Gary been discussing and cannot come to a definitive answer,
What colour would my MK1 TC have been out the factory?
Its a late 72 in production but registered march 73
The chap I bought it from said the metallic colour it is now is very similar to its original colour (pic attached)
If its a 72 the colour may be moss green, if its a 73 it may have been tundra!
The interior although been re trimmed is very similar colour to original
This is whats causing the confusion, there seems to be no exact matches in any documents I've got (exterior/interior colours)
Is there anyone who can give a definitive answer please?
Thanks in anticipation of your help,
Andy

What colour is it under the carpets on the inside of the bulkhead or up under the dashboard on the bulkhead. Usually (unless you are Frank) this is the place that doesn't get reprayed.

Looking at the pic it looks more like Rheingold. Tundra wasn't metallic, not sure about Moss Green but that certainly looks to be Rheingold. I'm probably wrong though

If you mean Wild Moss then that's not metallic and doesn't look much like your colour

As Gary says it looks close to Rheingold or possibly Brazil Metallic?

Hi Josh, The original colour was not metallic, it was a straight colour, Rhinegold I believe did not come out till the late MK1's

Hi Chris, not sure under carpets, don't want to disturb the new ones, I did notice the colour on the inside of the rear wings when I treated them to Dinatrol and to me the colour was greener than Josh's pic of Moss Green but when I spoke to chap that painted it he said that was a holding primer! but it did look very similar to Tundra! did they do the TC in Tundra? But then that does not explain the wrong colour interior for either colour, under bonnet and boot painted will have a look behind dash then.

If it works (from the club website member's cars gallery) that should be a Tundra TC. Quite different to the current colour of your car.
And the Fruitymobile...

Hey Matty. That photo was taken when it was still the Balmymobile!

Hmmm....
The only other MK1 greens were Mallard Green and British Leyland Racing Green, I am pretty sure Racing Green was a 71 only colour though and neither look much like yours.
Mallard Green:

British Leyland Racing Green:
The closest for me is still Rheingold, think it came out in '73?

Can't think of any other MK1 colours that look similar to yours, let alone just non-metallic colours
The Wild Moss car (LJK 717L) is the only known survivor in that colour and is rather faded, it would look a bit different once polished up.
Interior colour for Wild Moss:

Green carpet and door seals:

You can just make out a shinier bit on the bottom of the passenger door:

Interior colour of yours is the same as Mr Whites TC coupe in Reingold.
Tundra and wild moss seem very different.

HI , thanks for all the input!,
The pic of the Tundra TC is the colour I saw in the rear panel, I was told it was holding primer!, I notice that's a 76 though was the colour available early 73?
Cheers Andy

Tundra was definitely available in 73, I have no idea when in 73 it was launched sadly.

Hi all, just an update on this, Chris I checked colour under dash it looks brown but difficult to see clearly, log book says Bronze! so don't think it should be green now, surely its to early for rhinegold? was there another brown? would think it was too early for metallic being March 73?
So no further forward at mo! any input welcomed thankyou,
Andy
