Interesting question that I cannot answer for sure, but I have noticed that Marina owners below pensionable age are the type that have a bit of passion for their cars and are more likely to post here, then theres the over 60s who have owned their cars for over 25 years and do the kind of things pensioners do, I think that is the drivers club.
Unlike many other car clubs,on this site & club Marinas are more likely to be cherished by folks under 50 who prefer to use their hard earned dosh on living life, and the cars tend to be run and restored on a shoe string, a true classic for the people rather than just for the moneyed.

I don't know either, they have been around for at least 5 years and it hasn't changed, I found their website before I found the MMOC. There was also an Ital club site but it looked like a p**s take.
The thing about websites is that they drag on long after anyone who was interested has lost interest. There is old one page MMOC site which still list Andy Morris as the club secretary. The whole thing is 4 years out of date and the administrator is in Israel and I can't get him or the webspace providers to respond.

I can answer that one for you Larry, the marina drivers club has been around as long as the owners club, it was formed at the same time as i started the MMOC by a chap called John Lawson, i did contact him to start with but he was in no way interested in any sort of member inter action, such as meetings or rallies, all he wanted to do was run a club along the lines of bi-monthly newsletters and information exchanges, which was all very well but i wanted to actually meet fellow owners and attend national car rallies. So we went our separate ways and as far as i know he still has a small following of like minded enthusiasts. I like to think our direction was better as i for one have made a lot of good friends through this club, and hopefully will continue to do so.

Do you mean that Andy Morris has lost interest in Marinas and the club?? When i was a member in the 1990s he seemed to be the glue holding everything together in a club where 50% of the membership expressed no interest beyond writing their membership applications- the only thing he didnt do was produce the magazine.
The 1990s magazine wasnt upto much, and sometimes didnt ever arrive. I didnt renew my membership after a missed issue which had an advert for brand new Mk 1 carpets, a fact only brought to my attention on a visit to Steve Bilverstone, a great guy who became frustrated at club members lack of support for the spare parts service.

No I wasn't referring to Andy, I was referring to the old web administrator in Israel, before the current website was put together.
Andy stood down as club secretary several years ago, he's still a club member and was at the National the other weekend.

Re Steve Bilverstone being a great guy who wasn`t supported by the club, I`m sorry but someone has only heard one side of the story on that one.....i for one was let down by him, big time. Perhaps you should check your facts before you heap praise on him XER! ps if you want proof i have plenty, but i`m not going down that road any more, for the club it was a lesson learned and we have moved on!

I bought a complete van and loads of spare parts from him over a 6 year period, and I am very satisfied with the deals & service that I received. BUT for folks that couldnt collect stuff themselves, perhaps with his major health issues as well, service may not have been quite as good......I only speak from personal experience

Sorry XER you must have been the lucky one, because in my experience his "service that may not have been so good for those who could`nt collect themselves " ...was non existent!, let alone not as good.
Like you i speak from personal experience, along with at least 4 others.
