Dash trim refurb!

Well. It was on the cards. I took it upon myself to tackle refurbing those delicate bits of trim in my Mk1. Happy
to say it all went very well..and shows what can be done if you can be bothered.
Although not perfect, I thought a paint would brighten my 40 year old interior and heres some pics to show the results!.
Trim removed. I'd previously tried to clean it while still in the car, but found the original paint had been rubbed away leaving
dull and patchy stains!.
Some time and patience later. All I've done is rub the panels down and given them a light dusting with an aerosol.
The raised sections I've used a Silver leaf pen to do. These pens, by KRYLON I first heard about while watching Car
chasers on ITV 4. The guys were restoring this old American barge, and they mentioned "tidying up the gauges" with a
silver leaf pen. Had a quick look online and got one through Amazon (Tho I have subsequently found them cheaper on Ebay!)
It's basically silver/chrome in a pen. Holding it while just lightly touching the panel it was very easy to use. Don't be tempted to
push down too hard as it will dispense more paint and you be cursing..trust me!
Then to the clocks. As the bezels had lost most of their chrome, I polished it all off with some wet & dry, and used the pen once again
just to do the surrounds. Looks very smart, If I do say so!, and will do until I can get a set re-chromed.
