Gearbox input shafts

Hi all.
Question - am wondering if it is possible to just fit an 1800 input shaft to a 1300 gearbox to convert for use with an 1800.?
According to my parts diagram, the laygears have a different part number - but do they have the same number of teeth on the high gear.?
