Hiya,

For those of you I met at the national, I just thought I'd give you a bit of an update.

I eventually got the marina out of my friends garage on saturday, and we got the engine fired up. Unfortunately though she wouldnt run for more than a few seconds, and so after taking apart the carb yesterday and giving it a good clean, it needs a new jet as fuel doesnt seem to be getting from the float chamber through. However the engine did seem to run no problem which is good!

The exhaust dropped off as we were moving her, so a new one is now needed. Other than that, I gave her a good wash to get rid of the mould down the passenger side, and then started with the t-cut yesterday.

We also got an alternator fitted as it was missing one, and the callipers that came off the car had a good shot blasting! I have a reseal kit for them, I just need to get hold of some new pistons and they should be ready for rebuilding!

I took plenty of pictures over the weekend, and I'l try and get a few loaded up tomorrow.

Rachel :D

Hi Rachel

At the National you were asking after brake caliper pistons. Rimmer Brothers list them under Triumph part number 516212 in Spitfire 1500 or Dolomite at £8.75 each (inc VAT but exc postage).

So if you get really stuck they are available - however that is awfully dear and they must be available cheaper somewhere else.

If all else fails, strip your existing ones down and check the condition they may not be as bad as you think.

Anyone know where they can be got cheaper?

Hiya,

I found a company called canley classics selling them too for around £9.50 each, plus vat and p &p which I thought to be quite dear!

If anyone knows of anywhere cheaper that would be excellent!

Hiya,

Does anyone know how I can attach a few images into a post? I can't see anything anywhere to do it!
