Any body know if there are 2 sizes of rear brake shoes as brought these a while ago and they are too small for any of my cars.
Or are these fronts ??

Hi Lee
Yes there were, I've done a search on the
http://www.brakeparts.co.uk online catalogue they list 1971-72 and 1972 onwards.
I got a partial match on the handwritten number MGR 33/40 which relates to the early shoes.
The friction material dimensions are the same but there must be another difference.
Chris
You can buy direct off brake parts - really cheap top. They list new fitting kits if you need them. I'm sure that Josh will be dribbling by now and will buy the early ones off you.

Cheers chris
I did try using the numbers but did not come up with anything I did wonder if they were fronts or for early cars with self adjusting brakes.
But they are smaller diameter.

Certainly look like early 1.8 rears
Already got a couple of pairs in stock but if you have no use for them I am sure I can offer them a home

I had similar with my TC. They use dolomite rear cylinders, self adjusting, and escort rear shoes. The friction material is longer than the later marinas..mine were minted and might still have part number somewhere.

I think the problem is the difference between manual adjust and auto adjust.
Having said that, I have never seen a set of auto-adjusters that still work properly six months after a complete rebuild.
