Could have been restored quite easily. White Marinas are always a good seller.

The engine will have most likely been moved to a Minor by this or a previous owner.

What would be the best alternative engine to fit in a Marina if A series are too expensive or always missing? If fitting a completely different engine is it worth putting in the extra effort for something with a bit of grunt? ..something modern maybe

Thinking on a like for like with some improvement. Guesswork with no technical research- some thing Japanese in the 1500ish range petrol? Ford (!)1400ish petrol? Thinking they seem to go on and on so once fitted no more worries. Could go the same way but older something pre 1992 ish (carb rather than injection, sensor and cat). Working on these being transverse engines where the gearbox bolts on one end rather than being in the sump. Accept modification required to couple up to the Marina/ Ital gearbox...which might be where my suggestion fails: too much torque or power may shorten gearbox life. Also if modern the management systems would need to be added with the relevant wiring, sensors and cat. Have not thought this through at all though just thinking out aloud. The irony of used Minor 1275 conversion kits coming up occasionally not lost on me.
Look forward to better suggestions.

He brought it for a few spares for his, it was a runner, sold the engine separately. The car wasn't originally white but brown. He doesn't want much for the whole car, don't think he can really be bothered with the work involved in breaking, so if you fancy a project give him a ring.

looks to have a 1.8 dash but 1.3 grill :eh: Are 1.8 B series engines easier to get hold of? I have a gearbox, and hundreds of numerous other parts. If I can find a good 1.8 B series I may give it a go.. I don't know
TDT is pretty much finished, Josh has a space in the shape of PTH and my hands don't like being idle.

Yep, 1300. I can see it now. The dash also has no chrome trim like the Deluxe but the clock has. Changed at some point maybe for a rev counter? That eBay engine looks a bit beyond my capabilities though.

I thought that was long dead. It was a Tundra 1.3 DL. It was then resprayed white by a car dealer on eBay and it changed hands a few times on there.

Ref engines: missed the obvious ones- Rover engines from the late 100s or the 200s? Keeps the Leyland lineage, albeit a bit tenuous.

Several Bell housing kits available to connect front wheel drive engines to RWD ie putting K series in MG Midget. www.mg-cars.org.uk/frontline/k-series.htm. XE Vauxhall and Ford Zetec / Duratec also spring to mind

K series looks to be the best option. Wouldn't mind giving that a go
All conversion parts available to do it and not too difficult by the sounds of it. Cheers Dave.
