Evening all,

So today me and my brother started to take the wings off of Rusty today, but got stuck to where we need to remove them from where the wing's run down the door edge to the sills as it were.

Any help appreciated :-D,

Alex

You'll have to remove the doors to get at those welds. It's usually a few tack welds down the A pillar and on the lip of the wing at the bottom where it meets the sill.

Okie doky. Thanks for that, I'll have a look at the weekend. So am I right in saying the whole wing isheld on by tack welds? and does that lipped/crimp edge that runs down the pillar of the wing need to be bent round or anything?

From what I remember when I removed them from PTH there just tack welded to the A pillar but spot welded along the top to inner wing.
PTH's wings were so rotten I can't say for sure how they are fixed to the sill as there was nothing there for me to tell you. Check to see if there is a weld where the curve meets the scuttle too.

Thanks for all your help Gareth. Took the doors off and sure enough there were the tack welds. As you've probably seen, the wings are off now, so the fun really does begin ;)

I always look forward to updates on this. Seeing the work being done makes most people breath a sigh of relief it's not them... it makes me want to find another project!

If you lived a bit closer I'd be there in a flash. I can probably help with parts though.. just got back from Newport with a ton of spares from six cars broke up in the 80's. Not sure what I have yet as everything is still in the car. I'll sift through them tomorrow see what's there.

No worries, if you ever did feel like coming down though you're more than welcome to. Sounds good to me, look forward to seeing what you have. Whilst I think of it, do you have any NOS panels at all like headlamp panels, etc?

Cheers. I don't have headlamp panels unfortunately. I have a coup'e boot if that's any good for your mk2.
