Over my 40 year interest in Marinas I have collected all sorts of BL documents and data and while looking for some info came across this Bartholomew's "pictorial map". On the front cover is, what looks like early MK1 production line photo. Thought someone may be interested.

Nice to see one on the jig. Looks like their fitting the engine and mounts.

The one in the air has lights and suspension but no front bumper. The one nearest the ground and the camera has a front bumper, but they're putting the engine in or doing the engine mounts, as Morris said. When did the bumper go on? Did the car at the top fly over the bottom one to another station, or does the same crew that fitted the engine fit the chrome work? This picture poses a production line conundrum!

Looks like they get lowered onto the jig to fit the engine and box.

Is the hand under the bumper tightening the bolts?

Yes that does look like a blurred disembodied hand under the bumper on the right. So maybe the bumpers and the engine go on at the same station. I missed seeing that hand on the right (but then I missed seeing a crack in my distributor cap...)
