Not much to report on mine but I have just picked up a set of really good wheel trims for my HL - yeah (yes I know!!)
Looking to book some days off work to get this finished. My mate has an Allegro and we are off on a road trip when my Marina is finished (hes finsihed his Allegro - so I need to get my finger out !!)

Today I adjusted the "bands" on my BW 65 auto.

Had been in awe of such things until now. The actual adjustment is simple - getting at the adjusters not so much so.

Seems to have improved the reverse and second gear changing.

So that's nice...

Haven't posted anything for a while so thought I would do an update here; even though I did the work yesterday but I ran of time to put anything on here

Well firstly, with the help of my dad, we got the tappets adjusted. To be fair only a few were out, but not by much and the others were pretty good. Next we re-gapped, cleaned and re-fitted the spark plug. After that we were trying to figure out where an oil leak on the engine is coming from. It's weird because half the engine is dry (left) but the other side it soaked with oil (right), however the is oil all over the bottom of the distributor, wires and I believe on top of the chassis (all on the left ). From memory I think my dad suggested it could be a rear crankshaft seal? but because it's all covered in oil, it's hard to tell were it is. I did dry it off to help with diagnosing but that didn't work; plus it's all under the car, over the front suspension, the gearbox, etc. It's coming off the road soon, so for now I'll just keep putting the oil in and park under the tray I have to protect the driveway . We did want to do an oil and filter change but the filter we got doesn't fit ; so gave up on that.

One thing we did that has made a huge difference is change the front offside wheel bearing. At first we though it was the gearbox bearings so I changed the gearbox oil a few weekends ago in case any bits we in it. That didn't help and the oil that came out looked alright. Then about a week ago I jacked the car up to test the wheel bearing by spinning the wheel round and this one was very grumbly, if you know what I mean . When I did this a few months previous, and when it was on axle stands, they we all ok, even though there was this deafening noise when you got to 50/60MPH (the faster you got from 0MPH the louder it got), that's why we thought it was the gearbox. After removing this bearing we found it to be scorched and pitted in places and after replacing it I can now hear myself think ! It was surprising how a small thing like that managed to create so much noise but it did. I can now listen to the engine (which does sound quite sweet) along with all the other noises and know that I don't have to do a gearbox rebuild..yet.

Aside from what I did yesterday, over the last couple of months, I managed to: stop the nearside caliper from binding to the disc (it did this to the point that if you spun the wheel with a lot of force, it would only go round 1 or 2 times), adjusted the rear brakes so my handbrake works a lot better, installed buckets to catch the water from where those stupid pointless plastic pipes are that always fall out (unless I'm missing something with them) and started to buff up the chrome with polish. I've probably done other things but can't think of them at the moment.

Put just over 400 miles on the estate this week, 250 just today. Running very well and excellent on fuel, it needs a wash too now, covered in dead flies!

dead flies and dirt my number pet hate atm but running well just about clock 60,000miles mark tomorrow
