Well, it miserably failed its MOT in December 2004, sat for twelve months in open storage and has been done on and off over 18 months with a big push over this last summer (helped by the fact I've been off sick!)

After putting several hundred miles on it quick, the thermostat decided not to play and it overheated (luckily near home!) and then wouldn't heat up. Anyway, I re-acquainted myself with how much of a b*tch the thermostat is to get out and this is now OK.

One thing I did do was take the car back to its previous owner to look at - she was extremely surprised it still existed but was really chuffed it did - it was her fathers last new car before he retired and when he gave up in 1992 he handed her the car to her; she then used it until 2004 when I got it with its spurious MOT. She toddled off with a smile on her face muttering "I must phone Mum and tell her".... It's nice to make someones day!

Thats a nice ending to the story.

The guy I bought my Marina from bought the car about 15/20 years before I got it, it was his mothers before she died and then it became his wife's runaround until his wife was killed (in another car) by a drunk driver. He laid the car out to pasture until I came along. I got a smile out of him more than anyone when he saw the car for the first time at this summer's show.

I like to hear a happy ending - good job on the Ital ! looks fab.
