More info regarding rolling exemption here:
http://www.classicandsportscar.com/news ... r-classics
The annual review could mean it does get extended occasionally but a continual rolling exemption sounds unlikely from that article.

Indeed....although we don't yet know who the next lot will be....
If it is Labour then perhaps the classic car press should try and get some comments from Labour MPs regarding the matter. They might not remove the 1974 date, but they might say no to reviewing the situation every year. If the Eastleigh by-election is anything to go by then getting comments from the Lib Dems and UKIP may be worthwhile too.

When its Registered and when it was built can be very different. This is why we need the chassis numbers of the '73 builds.

I wonder... ;-)
The BMHIT should have it... But it will need backing up with an official letter from the MMOC.

I have a query in with BMH IT.
The club got the end 1972 dates from them years ago, I expect that they are inundated with similar requests at the moment, but I'll post what I find out.
As it doesn't kick in until next year, there's no panic.

The change makes all 'L' reg cars tax free, no need for club help. The fun ones will be the M reg ones.
As it happens, I had just written an article for the next club mag on claiming free VED amongst other things. Now I'm having to rewrite it because of the budget.

Mine was registered Oct 1973 so had to be built before then!
But there could be some Jubilees on M reg plates but will not be Tax exempt.
But I have a feeling they were all ready at a similar time for the launch?
Also if the rear reversing lamps are under the bumper like mine it is an early car so stands more chance (Unless the rear valance was changed to an older one)
