I took a trip to Bristol today in PTH to pick up a bonnet in what was probably the worst weather I've seen in ages! It's not been so bad all week but this is my luck we'r talking about and boy did it chuck down! Cross winds kept me at a steady speed of about 40 to 55 mph all the way there and back and poor old PTH fought through it like a true trooper
I only had to stop once as I forgot to top up the water before leaving but other than that she pushed through the wind and rain with roof bars and a bonnet on her roof without a single grumble.. although we nearly took off a few times! Just as well Bristol airport was near by
The guys I got the bonnet from threw in a coupe boot and a water pump as well I didn't hang around because of the sideways rain but whatever your names are guys, thank you

Tried starting the marina today after 4 months sitting in the garage and it wouldn't start which was annoying traced fault to no spark then found this wire

Which the plastic outer has gone hard and brittle so can only assume it was shorting or wire all broken replaced the wire and hey presto it starts now .
Now got to sort the charging problem as not charging the battery charge light goes off on dash and getting 11volts according to dash voltmeter. This problem started when I changed the starter solenoid.

I sent about 20 radio fascias to the sprayers today and should have them back next week some time. The colour of the later panels is very strange indeed! In some lights they look gray, then it can look blue and other times it looks like it has a hint of green in it?!
Anyway, finding an exact match is probably going to be impossible but it'll be close I hope.
I'll get some pics up when I get them back

I needed to strip the paint off the bonnet I got from Bristol the other day so popped down to Halfords for some nitromors. Not sure if they have changed the formula or something but my morning breath would have done a better job of stripping the paint! It did absolutely nothing
The last time I used nitromors was nearly twenty years ago and I remember the paint just fell off of the car I was doing then. I used it as directed but even if I didn't surely it should have done something it didn't even wrinkle the paint.. it did a very good job of cleaning the dirt and grime off though
On a better note, I just got new number plates for TDT. Raised digits on a reflective background. She did have pressed steel silver on black plates but I've never been keen on them. Their more suited to cars from the 60's I think.

I use a Star Chem from the local bodyshop factor for best results scratch through paint with screwdriver or similar liberally coat with paint stripper
then cover in cling film I have some clear industrial pallet wrap that I use lever for two to three hours until paint is lifting then scrape off process may need to be repeated ( the idea of the cling film is stops the solvents from evaporating and encourages them to penetrate the paint) I finally finish of with 180 grit on the DA Sander etch prime and then a thick coat of 2k primer block flated with 320 grit wet second coat of 2k followed by wet flat of 800 grit before top coat.

Thanks guys. I'll try a couple of others strippers and see how they do. Good tip on scratching the paint first, didn't think of that! though never had to do that last time I used it. The nitromors formula has definitely changed.

It was NUMBERPLATES-4-U I've ordered from them before and they do a cracking job every time

Bought 4 litres of Castrol GTX 20W50 mineral oil, at half price and ordered a Z83B filter. Nearly fell over when the lass behind the counter quoted $148, fortunately she cussed head office and got it down to a less eye watering $68. Might have to look at options for a more common filter.
