Is Dazza coming to the IOW Paul? Said he was gonna......
I understand he is as he is staying in a hotel with his folks, so it will be good to catch up with him and see that great TC coupe
I will probably be taking some more pictures if he lets me! :D
My engine went in for re-bore etc today so in 2 to 4 weeks it will be re-assembled.
Having it fully balanced to cut down on wear and after looking at the bores for sometime etc it looks like the bores have more like 90K wear than 63K!! The bottom end is good but I think the last owner did lots of short trips which may account for the bores being bad! At the top you could catch your nail on the rim and tear it off there was such a step!! took a while to get the piston rings to go past it!! Hence the re-bore new pistons, new cam followers, crank polish, new shells, new rings etc.
Cam and oil pump are good 8)

Should be tip top 8)

Couple of lovely bikes there Josh. I think the problems you've experienced with the Norman were symptomatic of British mopeds and scooters - unreliable and vibratory, then along came Honda, Yamaha et al and it was goodnight Vienna. I read that engineers at BSA couldn't believe the quality of the castings being produced by Honda in the 60s.

Nice mix of vehicles fellas.

My every day driver is a Ssangyong Actyon Sports Limited. Ssangyongs are very under rated with our good mate JC telling everyone that they are all junk.....sounds familiar, doesn't it!! My next car is a Jap import Toyota Soarer Twin Turbo. With 300 hp, it's a bit quicker than your average Marina  The rest are in need of restoration. I have a Leyland P76 V8 Super which hasn't been on the road since 2003. It's resting in my garage waiting for a rebuild. Also another Leyland P76, but a 6cyl deluxe. I am currently slowly working on it. Jusy for something different, I have a 77 Marina MK2 HL. It needs a lot of work, including replacing all 4 doors due to rust. But it will be saved as it is very unusual. Well it is here in Australia. Mk2's never came here. The car was privately imported from NewZealand. If that's not bad enough, my son has an Aus built Marina Coupe which I picked up for $50 Aus dollars, so now I have him addicted to old rust as well!!

I have a tendancy to own cars that everone else thinks are junk. And that's the way it's going to stay, because with old cars, we know better. :D What some people just don't get is that with these old cars, it's just as much about the memories as it is about the cars. 8)

74 Leyland P76 4.4 V8 (working on it now!!)
73 Leyland P76 2.6 6 (work in progress)
77 MK2 Morris Marina HL (work in progress)
07 Ssangyong Actyon Sports (it actually works)

Yes, British mopeds really never caught on which isnt surprising. Back in the day my grandad had a Raleigh Runabout for commuting, he'd ride it to work in the morning and pedal it back in the evening as it kept breaking down!
The British bike industry were simply unaware of some things, for example Norton failed to see why anyone would ever want an electric starter and for years offered their Commando without one. Then there's the Honda C50/70/90, the spec was miles ahead of any British moped. By the 70s all the Brit mopeds had all but disappeared bar a few efforts from BSA and NVT.

Its a 1975 Triumph T160 Trident. This one I bought new in Australia in 1977, and the other is a restoration project that has been ongoing for the last 9 years or so..

Sue has a 'learner' bike..

Image

.. and we also have a token Japanese car - a Mazda 929 'Luce'.

We are currently looking for a warehouse to live in.
For real.

That's got to be the most comprehensive collection of Mk3s anywhere i reckon Kilroy. The orange Triumph looks like one of those Craig Vettor Hurricane jobs?
Oh, and Josh my Aunty had an early 70s NVT moped which I nearly bought for £50 a few years ago, but then my cousin got first pick and I missed out. Maybe it was no bad thing really.
