What did you do to your Marina today?

Glacier White, Teal Blue, Midnight Blue, Blaze, Damask Red and Limeflower were all launch colours (along with Bedouin, Racing Green and Flame Red)

Green Mallard, Black Tulip and Harvest Gold were introduced in late 1971 (along with Aqua, around chassis number 50,000 it seems)

Surprised to hear the metallics were available in 1972, always thought they were later.

Never quite understood the colour guides that said certain models were available in certain colours only, for example that list says Limeflower on TCs only in 1972 but that's not true.

From the colour charts I have found online, there were at least 80 paint and trim combinations between 1972 and 1980 . I've put them in a spreadsheet - I'll see if I can figure out a way to add the colour "swatches" into it.

Brian, any chance of scanning the 1971 colour chart your have, espcially if it lists the paint and trim options . The 1972/73 paint/trim charts I found online had publication numbers "2774/G" through "2774/J", and the 1971 (with no Marina) was "2763/D".

Ben, can we add the paint charts (that I previously posted links to) into the docs sections? My laptop can't view the docs, but it's locked in the XP dark ages.

There will eventually be a complete colour and trim guide on the club website, hopefully sometime this year

Would certainly be interested in seeing your spreadsheet when you have done it, there is quite a bit of conflicting information on colours.

Replaced fuel tank sender unit, had aggravation with it, so cleaned up one of the bolts and one of the brackets and it works perfectly now, non-genuine British Leyland but seems to work ok :-)

Went to crank engine and nothing neither, nor was any petrol going through an inline filter i had installed around 3 inches before it goes into lift pump....

I knocked off distributor accidentally when doing up some custom bolts that went into body from the new bump stop that was fabricated for me so the panic firstly was over whether the rotor arms ok, HT leads are alright?... Electronic ignition plug a spray and wiggle, coil came undersupision and then finally....

found there was no live coming from ignition switch wire.... got the haynes manual out and had a look, was going to run a live from ignition barrel to the coil with an inline fuse and was going to test which light came on within the second click of key and which one went off upon cutting back to the first notch on key... discovered that it was the white wire which goes down to number 8.... the bottom of the four-way fusebox, so luckily enough there was another spade terminal next to the white wires which I put a live wire through bulkhead with headlamp wiring and insulated with tape so still looks original....

Chucked a little bit of petrol in float chamber and got it running, eventually the fuel filter got a little bit of petrol in and ran as normal.... Took a LOOONG while though.....

Long day.... This car has really started to play up on me recently... Just when you think theres nothing left to go wrong it always gives me a surprise....

That's why tax exemption isn't really a saving on daily cars. You end up spending the money elsewhere to keep it running!

Sent dad some new antiroll bar links for the LE. Here they are mocked up. The joints will have rubber boots fitted for MoT and obviously, a shorter bolt.. Before anyone mentions that..

Got 'er-indoors to drop paint off at the panel-beaters so he can paint the nice new sills!

I suspect that's it's third set from new- the ones it came with still had plenty of tread but I think dated to the 80's, I think it's probably about time for a new set.

The Maestro engine is now with C.A.R.S. and has been stripped down, ready to be introduced to the Marina engine bits we're keeping. Visit to the machine shop for balancing imminent, shouldn't be too much longer 'till we can correct that nose- up stance we seem to have on the go

Not even given it a polish yet- just a quick wash. It's spent winter hiding under a cover- need to clear the garage.

I do have the wheeltrims- it was missing the outer rings but Andy found us a set- but I've not put them on yet 'cos I need to take the fronts back off to clean the half inch of greasy muck covering the front suspension, and to try and replace the sheared grease nipple in the driver's side trunnion (tomorrow's job, along with taking the pedal box out to convert to manual, prepping the damaged paint in the engine bay from exploding batteries ready for fresh paint, and doing a service on the Mazda.

Make hay while the sun shines... it'll rain now!

Got the Ital estate started again today then moved it from the front lawn to the drive. Had a good poke around; not too bad, couple of areas need the hot glue, the worst being the offside rear wing at the top where the stainless trim trapped water. It won't trap it now, there's no ruddy metal left! The n/s wing will have to come off to deal with one hole in the A post unless I feel like making life difficult for myself again and the o/s chassis at the front needs a tickle. Apart from a couple of electrical glitches and a grumbly input shaft bearing, oh, and the brakes feeling dead ('new' servo and master cyl in garage), the rear shocks creaking, exhaust blowing and the timing being out, she's almost OK for the MOT...... (Yeah, Riiigght...)

Towed rhe car back from mum in laws to mine to get ready for mot and checked rear brakes and found one drum smelling of gear oil cleaned up and new shoes fitted temporary untill I can get around to getting hub off

Did a few jobs on Ducky today. Had her running a few days ago for the first time since August, today I free'd the clutch off, topped up the oil and screenwash, pumped up the tyres, fitted a better bumper and refurbished rear lights (repainted, new bezels and seals, better lenses), changed a couple of bulbs (they didn't seem to like the shock of being removed from the car ), touched up a few areas of my dash trim and repainted the chrome on the courtesy light, fitted a better wiper stalk (later type although I have just won a set of early column switches on eBay so may fit those...). All ready to go now
Next jobs are to refurbish the original wheels and the original fuel tank.
