Foglights/Spotlights

My TC would look good with a couple of extra lights up front. Naturally I would want lights from the correct period of time and ideally with covers. I have trawled ebay a bit and found Lucas LR8 (Square) lights that look quite good. Any suggestions about other makes? I'm not that godd on old extra lights...

Also, is ot common in the UK to have just one fog light and one spot light? I don't think I would get that through the MOT here.

Lamps like Wipac or Lucas from 1970 will do.
Lucas do LR / FT8 squares and LR / FT6 round type but will be expensive for good ones.
CEBIE IODE also are good but expensive.

I think 1960 to 1970 cars did have one spot and one fog but I prefer to have 2 and 2.
Jubilee lower fogs are Wipac, my upper two are LR8 Lucas (Beware of reproduction or copies) Original lamps are very expensive now but you can get the plastic back LR8 ones which are easier to find and still will look good.

I do have a pair of FOG LR8 with plastic backs but they again will not be cheap!
I may even have enough bits to make up a pair of chrome LR8 spots, but I would have to go to the shed and see what I find!

Copies have larger not so flush rivets on each end, back of reflector is silver and not bronze in colour, wire exit grommet will be black and not a grey cone and you may find the fixing bolt spacer is round and not square. Plus fit of rim is not so good.
Just some points to look for. Try and get ones in their boxes as that is another way to find original lamps.

The Wipac ones I have are stainless so no rust problems for the outer shell. They were fitted to Allegros SD1 Rovers etc but some will have different name moulded in to the glass. Allegro's actually had Allegro in the centre of the glass, my ones have Wipac in the glass which is correct for a Jubilee.

My Jubilee has mini Lucas rear fogs (Not the common larger type) which are brand new and although are chromed the backings are plastic! These are all from the correct period as they were on my original car almost from when it was new in 1973!
Hope this helps.
Paul.

Don't know about the road cars, but here's a pic of a period rally Marina with 4 driving lights. Can't tell the brand, but likely to be Cibie.

Hello Paul, I would definitely be interested in those LR8 Spots if you have enough bits to make up a pair. Please let me know1 I have bought a pair of old 70's yellow daytime driving lights, same type as I have fitted on the 1,3. I will probably fit those and a pair of spots if I can find some nice LR 8's or Wipac's (with covers!).
