I took this of a morris minor today, the car has a 2litre fiat twin fitted aswell, I thinks it an axle from a 1800 maria?

That looks Fiat to me. Have you checked the ratio??
If the twin cam and gearbox are OK someone may want to buy the whole package.

Looks like a 10cwt van axle to me rusty, similar to that fitted to the morris J4 and the `banjo` axled MGB`s, could have come from a marina van or pick up

You`re welcome mate...that is a good sturdy axle, it was used on the Abingdon - prepped ST Marinas for rallying and it will take a lot of abuse

If its a 10cwt axle it should have a 4.56 ratio (I think)
Can you confirm the PCD of the wheel studs??

The Marlin classic trials boys would love to have it if it is.

I will check the PCD and post it up tomorrow, though I do know the car has 15 inch steel wheels fitted and I was told they are ford.

The PCD is 4.5, also the car has front disc set up with the same PCD

Whatever you do don't weigh it in, as a Marina 10 cwt Van axle it is worth good money, particularly if the front hubs are with the axle. As jiversteve said, they are sought after by the Marlin trials specialists.

If it is a Marina van 10 cwt axle then the last key in the jigsaw is its ratio.
This can be simply checked using the methods described in viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3853&p=35913&hilit ... tio#p35913

It should be 4.56:1 if it is a van axle.

It's a very high ratio compared with the 3.63:1 of a 1.8 Marina or a 3.89 or 4.11 of a 1.3 Marina.
That engine must have been revving at about 4000 rpm at 60 mph unless it has a 5 speed gearbox.

Once the ratio is confirmed I dare say there will be a fair bit of interest as there are several Marlin Roadsters still active.

Ive have checked the ratio using the method of one hub turning and for one hub rotation there was just over 2,1/4 turns of the prop so it looks to be the 10cwt axle.The engine is a 2 litre Fiat with a 5 speed gear box, radiator prop and the front hubs, all the part taken of a morris minor.
