What I've been messing around with recently

Not a Marina I'm afraid. Admin feel free to move this thread if not appropriate
Ive always had a soft spot for metro's and early last year I had a mad minute on eBay and bought another Gti one, after having one about ten years ago id always having regretting selling it. Brilliant fun as they handle just like a mini but have much more power
Just before Christmas the usual k series beloved head gasket went on the std gti engine so I took this as a good excuse to do a mod I'd fancied years ago!

I'd always wanted to fit a 1.8 engine from an MGF

but now a 1.8 Vvc engine was available from a 160bhp MGZR so seemed rude not to have a go
Standard engine out
New engine from ZR
Squeezed into a metro!..
Job done!
One 200bhp per tone Metro
Apart from the loom work (totally different ECU and sensors) it's a really easy and fairly cheap conversion.
Results are outstanding! and can honestly say its the quickest thing I've ever driven!

when It can get grip she can get to 60 in under 6 secs

Couple of months after a few set backs. Needed to replace the subframe as was rotten. Then did a few more mods like lowering and individualising the hydrogas units.
Total cost of conversion was about £500 to include vvc engine. Ecu. Reworked loom. Clutch. Flywheel. Exhaust. Different immobiliser for ecu etc

That's exactly what I love about it. Handles like a mini but more practical Plus has the performance of a scalded cat! Lol brilliant fun.
Next on the shopping list is PG1 box and LSD from a rover 200 BRM

Nice work
When I was hunting for another car I was hoping to get a Metro, doubt the insurance companies would have liked me sticking that engine in it though

That's an ex works special tuning trolly I bought off a guy that used to work at Abingdon. Gonna fit a V8 to it as apparently it was a development project that was never finished

Love that Gaz, these little cars are so underrated, i drove one about 10 years ago and i must admit it was one of the best little cars i have ever driven, and without blowing my own trumpet...i have driven some really nice stuff from Ferraris to Astons and Porsches over the years (customers cars of course

), fitting the 1.8 would turn it into a little rocket!...great fun!
A cool giant killer indeed
