Hi All,
I'm planning to change my brake shoes this weekend as I've had enough of squeeky brakes. However I've just inboxes the shoes I brought and not sure if they are the right ones... due to go onto a Mk1 1.3 saloon.
Are these the right ones?
Cheers
Lewis

The changeover for the front shoes was chassis number 291007 to 295000 & 302538 onwards. If your chassis number is below 291007 you will probably need the earlier type.

Have ordered a new set, like the ones you posted aqua marina. Another week of squeeky brakes it is then

Just to double check, the correct ones are the same as an escort mk1/2?

A squeel from the brake shoes is often either a build up of dust inside the drum (it can't get out), or the leading edge of the shoe making the noise.
1 - take off the drum and clean it out by dropping the dum face down on the concrete about 4"/100mm.
2 - use a file and bevel the leading edge of the two shoes at about 45 degrees for about2mm.
3 - use coarse sandpaper or similar and scuff the surface of the pad to get rid of the shiney surface.
Cheap and easy.
Best of luck

From 4" - just make sure it's square on flat to the surface.

I would invest in a can of brake cleaner, much safer no distorted drum and no dust. Only a couple of quid. As already said clean out dust. Chamfer shoes and clean up with 80grit production paper. Lubricate all contact points on back plate and wheel cylinders ( not getting on lining) with copper grease or similar then re adjust.
