Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Did some more tinkering on the Marina this weekend. Changed the oil again (used the last lot as a flush) nice and clean now. Put an in line fuel filter in and changed the fuel pipe to carb. Also reset the timing. Made a boo boo last time, looked at Haynes and it said 8 degress so I set it that and ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Had a good day on marina. New points and condenser fitted. New thermostat (just lifted out no hassle) refitted new one with a smear of vaselene. Temp now sits dead on centre of gauge. Also looked at timing (was way out) set at 8 degrees is that okay with modern fuels?

Took it for a spin and drives ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Well you will be pleased to hear another Marina is on the road !! Mine passed it's MOT today first one since 2001. The garage had to fit a new clutch in the end as he says the plate was fixed (and still is) solid to the cover plate.
The MOT place is a fair way from home as it was done near where it ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

That Ital estate is superb - would love that, right colour/spec - perfect 8-)

In other news spent a day on the Mk3 - gave it a good machine polish and general touch and tidy ready for it's visit to the garage.
Checked all the lights/horn/wipers etc. Noticed the brake lights not working (found ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

All this marina activity is spurring me on. Just booked mine in at a garage for the clutch sorting and mot. Being moved a week on Saturday. I really don't want to sell this but I have 3 other classics and no room to store any of them. Decision will need to be made when it's motd.
Fingers crossed ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Let it warm through and all was good - thought there was a leak on the cooling but nope just my imagination I ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Thanks for sharing tips on the clutch. The only 2 things not tried are the drop on jack method and gearbox out. Given its not been driven since 2001 I suppose it's expected to be more stubborn than most! As I've gained a second wind on the car and the welding is finished. I'm going to finish ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

I was owed a lieu day at work and as it was a reasonable day I decided to spend it on the Marina. Had a long slog as it needed quite an involved repair to the lower n/s 'a' post/front sill and lower wing however it's done and pretty chuffed with how it's turned out - i'll update my main thread in ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Well confession time, i've not touched my Marina for ages and to be honest i'd lost enthusiasm. Anyways I decided to put it up for sale and I thought id sold it. Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Great work on the trims - I can't imagine the time you had on those. Regards the colour did you use colour books or match from sample? The reason I ask is that my local paint guy matches by eye. He has a great reputation and when I resprayed my Anglia I wanted as close to original as poss rather ...
