Well it all started with a squeak from the propshaft/axle when you move off so I thought Id better have a look.It needed the centre bearing/rubber support changing anyway as this was noted on the mot and the rubber was split so off came the prop.In the process of replacing said part I noticed one of the u/j's was notchy,so off that came to fit a new one. While this was going on craig(crashbang)offered me a mk3 axle which has the anti roll bar mounts on which he knew I wanted to fit to my mk1.I thought I would just cut them off and weld them on to my axle but then I thought I might as well swop axle cases over and replace the wheel bearings while Im at it,just to make sure everythings ok.It was also noted that the car sat slightly lower on the drivers side, once again craig came up with some springs to try out...hes a nice chap.
So now the axles all painted and back in the car on 1 1/2" lowering blocks and I still have to make up a new flexi pipe as its mounted in a different place on the mk3 due to the antiroll bar(it needs to be longer),drill and weld tubing into the chassis rails for the antiroll bar mounting point and that should do..then its lower the front suspension and fit a front antiroll bar.....be nice to drive it again soon
New bearings fitted and ready to go...
The rear antiroll bar that started all this!!
