How many Mk1 1.8TC were built?

Post by XER905L » Wed Feb 20, 2008 9:58 pm

Yesterday I started up my left hooker TC for the first time in 2008. And drove it 15 metres to my unheated workshop which I havent used for months due to the cold.
Its a Mk1.5 registered in August 1975 - it was built with Mk2 rear light clusters and has el-cheapo plastic window chrome inserts and gutter edges.

I noticed the engine number was 40110 - this was a type 468 which was the Marina TC spec only I suspect - my other TC coupe is from April 1974 with an engine number almost 6,000 less. If engine numbers like VINs started at 1001 and my car was from the end of Mk1 TC production is it reasonable to guesstimate that 40,000 Mk1 TCs were built, give or take a few???????

My Toyota Hiace was stolen 3 weeks ago and a mechanic friend suggested I sell/swap this car for another Hiace/VW Transporter from the 1990s so he inspected the car with a view to finding out what needs to be done for an MOT.There are plenty of classic car nuts living in the hills south of Gothenberg where I live so hopefully somebody will make me a nice swap next month......

Yes, I like it too - thats why I bought two, his´n hers .............. however the girl I married wont drive a Marina, she prefers her Peugoet 205 although back in ´96 when I bought the 2nd citron I did have a girlfriend whose father had a Marina coupe when she was a child and she would drive it......kept the car but shes long gone for a younger slimer model :D . I drove over 30,000km in 2007 but only put 50 odd miles on in a Marina.......no time to get them MoTd or borrow trade plates and lousy wet weather too -only let em out in the dry......

Ahh yes! Lovely! I thought the garage door opening was a mirror!
Bonnet up was a give away

That one in the garage looks like Tony's (GeeTc) Saloon! Well they both look like it really.

There are only three TC coupe / saloons in Citron I know about which are not Jubilee's and there are two!
