Great fun night out!!!
As craig said the old girl was way down on power due to one of the pistons missing a large chunk of metal
Replacement engine sitting in the garage so it was all or nothing with this one,so it was a steady run down to maidstone trying to avoid the traffic jams on the motorway to arrive at the service station/starting point to sign on and pay our dues.
On leaving the station on our first stage we hit traffic at a roundabout,I stop behind a new Porsche which then desides to reverse into us,putting a nice crease in his bumper and knocking our spots out of line!??!
So on we travel as fast as the old girl will give us which most of the time is good enough as the lanes are mainly one car wide and twisty.
The car handled well, steering surprisingly light and positive, suspension well damped at the front but over sprung/under damped on the rear making for some interesting handling traits when pushed hard over bumpy/uneven lanes....helps keep you focused!!
It seemed like no sooner had we started it was all over,me getting a good sweat on from heaving the old girl around and total concentration on the dark road ahead, craig doing a brilliant job of plotting and guiding me through the lanes from the map, shouting out the way in true rally style.....yeah,bl00dy good fun
