Post by The General » Fri Jul 20, 2007 7:52 pm

after having my baby for over 4 years i am maybe getting another one
and i was thinking of parting with her. I don't want his car to get abused by some idiot so thought i would ask here and see if anyone may be interested. im sure you all know about the car and what it has had done to it and the mags etc so if anyone wants to know anymore just drop me a line.

Wow, I never thought that the good cars ever came up for sale, but I guess so.

I have to say that I would give my right arm for that car but the shipping and the dollar to pound exchange rate right now would kill me. And if that didn't then the wife certainly would. (Although my neighbors would love it)

About 5 years ago I went to a Dukes of Hazzard weekend in Covington, GA where they filmed the first 5 episodes before moving to CA. I got to see a whole bunch of the filming locations - the original boars nest - which is now a church, Hazzard square etc. I got to meet most of the stuntmen from the show also, Corey Eubanks (who jumped a General Lee replica 140 some feet as the main show that weekend) Henry Kinji, Al Wyatt. Had a great weekend and still keep in touch with some Dodge Charger General Lee owners still.

Anyhow, ignore my prattle. I wish you all the best of luck selling your car if thats what you decide on. I hope you find someone who can look after it as you have, its a beautiful looking car.

Chris

thanks for the comments chris much appreciated and all the best from over the pond. As i said i still ain't 100% sure if i will sell it, but its like everything else you can only keep so many. However i will know more in the coming weeks when i get to see these other ones that have been on the horizon for some time. But if they turn out to be basket cases then i will quite happily content myself with the general for many more years to come.

after going to see the other cars and weighing up costs between selling my own , doing another up, and speaking to a few people i have decided that the general will stay. As Danny from practical classics said in his feature, he has 400 miles to burn in the world's sexiest marina coupe and i agree although other people have different opinions, but who cares what other people thing of you or your car and that goes for all of us cause at the end of the day we do it cause we enjoy it.

Well said nuggat, I’m really glad that you have decided to keep the old girl. The thought of doing country length journeys doesn’t appeal to me just now after my latest escapade in Tewkesbury which has put me off driving in the rain!
