Tyre sizes

Post by purplecoupe » Mon Aug 13, 2007 5:04 pm

Hi,

I have a set of 5.5inch steel wheels for the marina, does anyone know what the best size tyre is to go for that keeps the speedo accurate?

Thanks,

Rachel

165 x 13 80-profile if speedo-accuracy is your prime concern

I find 175/70/13 the best overall size for 5.5 rims and with a slightly bigger footprint !!!

I agree 175/70 will fill the rims nicely

I fitted 175/70 to the Mk1 blue coupe I used to have and it did help with its performance, well as good as a Mk 1 could handle without antiroll bars!
Beauty with brains behind it!

Thanks for that, think that settles it, 175/70 it is! There's one garage quoted £60 to fit some part worns to the rims, does this sound about right?

Standards are 4.5J's later TC's were 5.5J's and i believe TR7 (look the same as standards) are 5.5J's..
If a link was changed to "ebay linky" then that was probably Sam, because she's sad..

Hello Rachel , dont mess around with part worns as youve no idea of their history and theyve normally been taken off for a reason !! you should be able to pick up a new tyre for that price !!! :) Let me know if you have an ATS or HiQ in your area , Adz and me might be able to help you !!!

TR7 steel wheels are 6" - Marinamadbaz had a set on an Ital.
