Culzean 2008

Post by alan_duncan » Fri Aug 29, 2008 4:06 pm

Bad word to some, some clubs did not go as a protest as to the £10 entry.
I did not take my car , but went along to take photos , as i do with most shows i can get too, but my battery ran flat, so just got 251 pics most of the carpark, some other members added more.
Was it worth the £10 Notes, Well :? so so, Selkirks bigger and about £2 to get In. heres the pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottish_c ... 929672520/

8) Hence the reason why we didnt go....The guy is a rip off merchant and only interested in the more expensive and concours cars. He is not interested in us common herd. 8)

Hi Alan, £10 is totally ripping the P155, hence our non show as Chief Clansman says. Nice pics tho!

If anybody wants to put a point out about Culzean, the organisers watch the Scottish ccc website. keep it Clean
I now there outlay was a lot of ££££. for all the stuff they put on.
But also, there were over 5,000 entrants there at £10 a time.

so over 5000 times a tenner plus £4 for all the cars that were displayed
= a lot o cash then take off all the outputs.
I doint know what the outputs were , but I would take It they made a Profit.

Hi Alan,

With all the greatest respect to you I really don’t see what difference if any will come about on the Scottish SSC website re Culzean. I tried this forum, only to be greeted by a young snooty burd fae Ayrshire regarding fees at another show this year in Scotland. The Scottish SSC forum doesn’t have any atmosphere at the moment and nobody seems to want to debate. Larry from Marina Ecosse has also demonstrated this by making reference to the SVVF, only for nobody to even answer his posting. On that note I pulled my subscription off as I felt that anything I had to say wasn’t interesting enough for fellow Scots/ car clubs.

Sean

P.s. I dressed a lot of stone for Culzean Castle in the early 1990’s when I was an apprentice stonemason!

Cluzen is expensive as the admission also letsu into the country park. However despite being on my door step well nearly i havent been to the show for a few years basically because off the cost.As was said earlier the cars that go are concourse and in excellent nick.I passed a Austin Ruby i think on a trialer on the m77 and neumerous mgs travelling to and from the show. Also it is held over two days with a Roast on the castle lawns in the saturday nite. Our local radio station held a competion to win a two day pass to the eventThe show its self is usually busy with a good turn out.If u are a member off the Nat trust for scot or the nat trust u do get in for free.If u like concourse cars with a parade showing off the cars then it is good .Pricey but not sure how cars of the Marinas era would be looked upon.Might be worth going one year just to see.Dean castle classic car show had a good turn out this year but is free to get into.Lots off cars at this year also.
