Marina with Dolomite Sprint Engine

Post by 1GMARINA » Fri Dec 19, 2008 6:07 pm

I seem to remember reading in a magazine of a Marina (think it may have been a coupe) which had been fitted with a Dolomite Sprint engine. I can't remember if this was a factory 'works' experiment or a much later installation by a private owner.

Does such a car still exist in Marina circles?

Steve :D

Hi Steve, you are right in thinking one did exist, i can vaguely remember seeing one at a meeting back in the 80`s, but i think it has probably gone now, i certainly haven`t heard of it for years.

It turned up at Billing Aquadrome in 1992. Full Sprint install with o/d gearbox and Sprint axle. Some dimwit in a Morris Minor slagged it off - when I left, Mr Minor was ahead of me and in the distance behind was said Sprint Marina. Lets just say.... the Sprint Marina had overtaken me, two or three other cars and left the Minor for dead before we got off the slip road to the A45...... bloody fast! Oh if only they'd made them.....
The classic car movement needs Jeremy Clarkson like Jenson Button needs a towhitch and a Sprite Musketeer....
