Hi All - Update

Richard passed over the pukka BL rubber surround today and I will take it down to the re-manufacturer during the week, they are about 30 miles away and it gives me an excuse to give the Coupe another run.

I will ask for a written quote based on 25 units and publish here.

This has gone onto the backburner over the last copule of months, since Richard Clayton had his accident. I went to the molding co in October and to do a set of new rubbers will cost somewhere between £1500 and £2000 including 35 odd rubbers. If we have them done properly with moulded bottom corners (as per BL) it means the manufacturer making an extrusion for the channel and then separate moldings for the corners and then the whole things is bonded together (£2K). The alternative is that we have the channel molding made and then the bottom corners are mortised like a picture frame and bonded (£1.5K)

Also to make up the various moldings/extrusion sections they would have to cut sections in the complete one that Jan-Ivar supplied.

We hadn't got any further yet.

Don't like to be the one that said I told you so, but "I told you so!..."
If a link was changed to "ebay linky" then that was probably Sam, because she's sad..

Coun't me in for a couple of the correct ones. I think that we "oldies" will have to get used to higher prices on parts for marina as the supply of new parts gradually gets used. When remanufacturing parts - prices should not be compared to what you saw it last time for 4-5 years ago , but with what similar parts for modern cars cost. I've seen this happen to spitfires/cortinas and no doubt it have happened to many other makes as well. I think it's been more than 10 years since i was offered a marina for free here in norway. Happy days

Pilikington have written to me saying their prices are going up! I got my windscreen made by them (Formally Triplex) for £114 which I thought was a bargin. To original Sumdym spec with a top tint! Still more than some ex-stock suppliers but they were running out anyway so would need to put an order in which probably would be a similar or more on cost.

But as the Pilkington factory uses huge amount of electricity to heat treat the screens they have been hit bad by energy prices
So this has probably gone up a fair bit.
As companies go under remanufactured parts also get hard and more expensive and this is all at a time when poeple are loosing their jobs so can't afford the prices.
Just hope my job hangs in there as now on 4 day week

TC is is staying regardless of job though :D
