Fellas,

I keep saying this but out of the low numbers of the pick-ups that were built in comparison to the other models, and the jobs they were designed to do,heavy and hard work, they seem to have survived in quite large numbers, leading me to say once more "the pick-up was the best built out of all the Marina and Ital range.

When I spoke to an ex Cowley finish control guy at a show years ago, he was telling me how alot if not most of the pickup bodys came off the line were all twisted, they then had to go on a jig to be "straightened", he said "you could hear the spot welds popping around the rear bed as they were doing it" lol sounds like quality BL doesnt it! :)
If a link was changed to "ebay linky" then that was probably Sam, because she's sad..

Hi,

The pick up is compleatly solid, lives out side all the time and gets used as a only vehicle definatly in a lot better shape than my ital !

Hello marinaman480 ! there both in High Halstow area near Grain so including billytits ( trev ) thats 4 within about 5 mile radius ! I drive through Northfleet a lot in my Ital so i will keep an eye out for you .

If any one is interested in the coupe i could pop round and ask if the guy wants to sell its been sitting a few years and last i looked had lots of old junk lent against it looks saveable from a distance any way :?

Cheers

Ah Gary, the legendary build of British Leyland,

The Marina i wrote about in "A very unusual 1800 T.C" when the cars carpets were remove so floor welding could take place cigarette butts were found there, the lads on the line must have been having a crafty smoke, and must have stubbed their N0 6's out in the car to avoid detection, but once again even with "the rejigging the pick-ups,they ain't half lasted.
