The show is so so scripted, even the co drivers on the classic rally were so set up,the Spanish guy with Clarkson you could see that coming a mile off,and the BBC getting the start the dates wrong by two days, pah.
Sorry it's rubbish even if it's a top show for the BBC,i think the same as marinanut it's another show that's ran too long, and as Frank says for the time being the classic car people are off their backs, but for how long i don't know.

They could have used the white special for the race but maybe they weren't allowed to drop a Piano on it lol

Yeah, I did think of that when he read it out. Ive got no connection with the Marina club but they recon they found it on the Marina forum, so Marina owners got the "blame" For that I'm sorry!

TBH when I posted it I didnt think it would end up on the telly, although I wouldnt follow up on my threat in real life, it was meant more in jest.

Just shows the BBC do prowl the net looking for stuff to use.

Daft sod! Frank, I think its time to discuss with the Beeb about the vindictive way the Club has been treated by the presenters/producers of the show. They continually get things wrong (ie who owned the car) and are happy to attribute non-member posting not even from this forum to us to create a bad impression. It may be worth having a chat to someone, as they are clearly fabricating 'evidence' against Marina Owners in general. When the Club was started, it had an uphill fight against the prejudices of other car enthusiasts, even though we have proven through research and sheer hard work that despite all of its shortcomings, the Marina and to a lesser extent, the Ital do have a place in history as they created the foundation that many of the better-known 'classics' could exist through. It is no fault of the cars that it stayed in production too long, that is social history, but the way the Club(s) have been portrayed on Top Gear is getting beyond a joke now. It is now down to sheer spite from JC and the Producers, its not about wrecking perfectly good cars, but to slander the Club(s) as a whole. How much further are they prepared to go, and how long will it be before some berk decides to damage a Club members car 'just because they did it on telly'?

My lad has been to Sheffield Arena today to see Walking with dinosaur's,so he enjoyed the bit with them in it apart from that he thought it was no good, and he's 11 years old.

I think there may be a case of slander against the club. It must feel so good to be a bully on national TV against a classic car club. If they are picking on the Marina Club then at least they are leaving another club alone I suppose and we are hardy enough to take their pish because we know what's been said/ posted on the forums and by whom!

Hi Frank,
I have to correct you and own up!
"so called emails " from club members...one of which was an old one (from someone who was not in fact a club member)

The old one last year about sending an e-mail was me! I am happy to own up to it but TG got it wrong the first time and the second as I never sent an e-mail to the TG or the BBC, it was a Forum post which I threatened to send an e-mail but never did as I could not be bothered with it when the reality hit.

I have the same worries as the above about some wally damaging our cars because it has been done on TG, which to them would justify it, Well they are a bit thick

Will the BBC be prepared to pay up if this happens?
Or would we have to take it to court?

As I have said before that if it is just name calling then maybe OK, but if it went too far and damage happened to cars then the BBC and TG should pay to have it put right as they are 100% to blame for putting ideas in to thick people’s heads :x

None of us need this and that includes any other classic car owner also
Paul.

True, but if you've invested as much time and cash into your car as Paul has, to have some brain-dead berk damage it in any way 'becoz I saw it on telly and its only a crappy Marina coz Jezza sez so' will get your back up.

Fair point Sean, but I am talking silly idiots with keys or other items doing stupid things.
I don't think they have the knowledge or resource to find a piano let an lone lift it up and drop it on a car

I must admit i`m getting very tired of all the lies being told about the club on national TV , NONE OF THIS WAS ACTUALLY INSTIGATED BY THE CLUB, a few members posted opinions on an OPEN forum, this was NEVER the official response from the club or its opinion.
Next we hear that "the Marina Owners club said `this` or `that`, none of which was true. This time they stated that "this car actually belonged to the wife of the president of the Marina Owners Club", more lies, next it was the so called `Poo` email again as Mike found out, another lie, how many lies can we let them tell about us before we have to take legal action ?, i honestly don`t know but the next step for me will be an official complaint to the BBC unless these lies stop now, i`ve had enough and the wife is really p*ssed off that they have dragged her into it as well....so look out JC, the wife is after you now, and you mess with her at your peril

Mike just a follow on from your post, weather i should be saying this or not i'm not too sure but the point you made about damage to members cars has already come up,after the first TG stunt,Frank received a torrent of not only very personal and abusive e.mails but in the mix were some threatening ones that said that if they were to see a Marina in the street the car would be attacked, and indeed every time TG do a Marina feature he gets the same type of responses although the violent ones have been far fewer this time.

Since the start of this TG/FG attacks on Marinas/MMOC Frank has developed a very special way of responding to any unwanted e.mails, sadly i cannot go into the full details on here but it basically centres on lots of four letter words, simple but effective, well done Frank.

The boot lid on my Marina when TG started their hate campaign against Marina cars/ owners. I can only really blame TG because I have had numerous classic cars parked in the same spot for years without a single incident but when the first car got destroyed this was the reaction to my car

Needless to say I was more disappointed than hurt because it cost me in excess of £125 to put right and this happened at a time when I was out of work and never had any cash lying about. I had to borrow some money to get it fixed :(

Sorry to hear about that, I my-self suggested that this may happen on other car forum but I was told I must see the population of this country in a rather poor light.

I must say I don't generalise about people very often but I am a 17 year old college student who knows exactly how some people would react when this sort of thing happens on Top Gear or the media. I wouldn't want to park a Marina on a public street after all this rubbish but sadly its now happened and it can't be stopped until its forgotten.
I feel the Marina has now been taken out the publics realm of "just an old car" to "A shitty Morris Marina with the crazy OC", I can't help but think this will cause problems for enthusiasts.

My 1st post btw, I've been a member of the Finalgear forums for a while now and tried to speak out in your defence. I seemed to be getting somewhere with reasonably argument at one point. Sadly a certain person joined in and turned it into a "slag off FG members match".
