Hi Stu, yes that does happen with some paints, you can get what they call in the trade reflow, that is the paint settles under heat as it would in a booth. If you have any disasters rubbing through it`s not the end of the world, just mask to the edges of that panel and blow in a fresh coat of paint over the damage, it happens to the best of us! :)

just following on the car is now painted flatted back and polished up and i've just put the gold stripes along the sides and across the back but as I have had to put on a set of black base model bumpers(as the chromed ones were too twisted and bent) was wondering about the silver recess in the cente of the bumpers as I have re painted the bumpers all black was the silver line originally painted on ?? :?: when I stripped them back to paint the silver lines were just adhesive tape looked like insulation tape will be posting some pictures tomorrow when it is finished
cheers for now

Yes, it was a foil type tape originally, but it goes dry like masking tape after years..
If a link was changed to "ebay linky" then that was probably Sam, because she's sad..

You should be able to get some all weather foil tape that gives the same look..

look very nice stu :)
last time i was in UK i bought a sort of "shaver" for paint runs at Halfords. You can adjust it micro-milimeters. Haven't have had any use for it tho so i can't comment on how it would be to use compared to a falttening-block. i should actually make some runs along a test panel just to try it - maybe next time... :)
Have you been trying this Frank or are you just old-school :)

cheers Frank took me 3 months to achieve it would probably take you less than a week I have lost count of the hours spent sanding ,flatting ,cutting back and then polishing just as well the paint went on really thick gave me plenty to rub back thanks for your advice I think i'll leave it to the professionals next time
cheers
