First ever visit to Classic car show

Post by Muskydo » Sun Sep 16, 2007 8:29 pm

Well today on one of my rare weekends of work,I went to what was billed as a "Vintage & specialist Car Rally" at Tredegar House Newport Gwent, apparently it's been going for years but I've not heard of it.Sad thing is it's only a few miles from where I live and it is quite obviously a really big event with according to the program over 1500 vehicles of various types with vast majority being of the classic variety.Speaking to different people it seams this is one of the biggest & most popular 1 day shows in th U.K.!
There were 3 Marinas listed but I only found 2 of them a nice 79 coupe in Inca Gold and 10cwt Marina pickup in really nice nick, my lack of knowledge of the event meant my own truck had to stay in the car park outside which was a shame. The yellow coupe had club badge in the window so if your reading this get in maybe.Never had camera with me :(
But next year now I know about it I will definately be exibiting at least 1 of my trucks, and if anyone else fancies what would be a great weekend in South Wales perhaps we could go team handed and show some proper cars.

Hi guys, sorry for delay in replys, working in a brewery who'd do that eh! :P
Got the local news paper cuttings today,I'll scan them in and see if I can upload them on the weekend, listen to me I sound like I know what I'm talking about.1500 vehicles mostly classics that got to be amongst the biggest. And a trip into Wales is something everyone should do at least once, because as everyone knows it never ever rains here and the Treorchy treacle mines are a sight to see for sure. There's plenty of places to stay or camp for anyone overnighting and plenty of other things to see and do. :)

I’ve been to Wales loads of times and even been down one of their Slate mines. Lovely part of the world indeed. I can even count to 10 in Welsh, not bad for a Scotsman eh!

I went down the mines at Mirthyr Tidfyll (sorry I've probably spelt that horribly) as we had some archaeological stuff going on and I was dragged down by the people I worked with who were actually interested in stuff like that! There were welsh minor down there and they would sneak up on us and put these clockwork rats everywhere scared the bezuses out of me!

I like to think were all europeans now (crap) so we never take offence at any friendly banter BUT never ever take a fancy to one of our 4 legged friends because some of them, and some of us are in deeply commited long term relationships that would be a very baaaard idea.

I'll post more details tomorrow..... :)
