Another film with a Marina appearance.

Post by black tulip tc » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:33 pm

My daughter received a DVD called " Penelope " for christmas, and there is a shot of a Limeflower TC saloon in what looks like a London street. The film was made in 2006, and I was wondering if this was the same car that was wrecked by the Arctic Monkeys in their 2007 video? I can't see the registration number in the film, does anyone know anything about it?

There are also a few other old cars appearing in the film; early Hillman Avenger, mk2 Opel Manta Coupe, mk1 Vauxhall Cavalier, mk2? VW Golf and a 60's Bedford CA van with sliding doors.

As the film was made in 2006, and is aimed at children / young teenage girls, I can't quite see the point of using old / classic vehicles for background shots other than to keep Dads interested!

Another possibility; was it Dave Richardson's Limeflower saloon from " Life on Mars" with TC wheels fitted? Anybody know????

Dave.

Dave,

Dave Richardson's limeflower saloon is still in one peice in his garage, just as it was in Life on Mars, no changes.

I was told that the movie "Bronson" has a Marina appearance in it. Anyone seen it?

There's a lovely shot of a TC Saloon in Michael Caines' 1974 film The Black Windmill, It was on over Christmas and I nearly fell off my chair when I saw it. (Its seen breifly when he is at the auctioneers)

Well, I've spent nearly an hour trying to find a dvd that will play in this country to no avail. Bloody frustrating! But, I'll keep trying.

Hi Skip,
Try downloading DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 Link.
It is free software and you can strip out the DVD region to make it region-less!

May help. Also very good at copying DVD's although I can not say you should do that

Paul: Will do. I don't know if I am smart enough to do it, but I've got a stepson computer guru who can.
Thanks!

There's a bank commercial running on NZ TV, with an out-of-fuel Marina estate and a piggy-bank coming to the rescue :) .

Curiously, the rego plate HH5908 is off a white 1974 1750 Aussie saloon (chassis #025A4SZM171724), not a red 1975 English estate :? .

Hi CoupeDriver Al here, from Facebook?

You can play Region 2 DVD's on any laptop or PC - or download a codec that will let you. :)

Thanks! My stepson computer guru mentioned that last evening in conversation. The computer age has left me in the dust. :)

There's a MK1 T.C that appears in the vastly over rated 2006 screen version of the Alan Bennett play "The History Boys" (opening and ending sequences)

This could possibly be the same car that appears in the 2007 music video by the Arctic Monkeys "Fluorescent Adolescent"
